This is an old post… that never got posted. I wrote it when I was pregnant with Avi… it’s crazy to think that was about two years ago. When I found it this afternoon I was going to rewrite the whole thing and only keep the recipe. But I wrote it then, and it brought(…)
We didn’t have a CSA delivery last week because of the Labor Day Weekend. So I wondered what I was going to post since we didn’t get our weekly delivery of fresh veggies! I figured I should do something about food and good food at that! Usually Tuesday is my recipe day, but I haven’t(…)
I’m always looking for a new snack that isn’t too costly, doen’t take a lot of work to prepare and can easily be substitute for a desired convenience snack. For example my kiddos often want some sort of cracker or chip from the snack food isle at the grocery store. I try to avoid that(…)
Many of my friends know of our Sunday tradition… it’s a day of rest and I really LOVE how the pioneers really took that literally and didn’t cook, wash, or do any work of any kind! Now I do think it kinda went to the extreme, but I also think we do not take it(…)
Eggplant and zucchini season have about passed, and we are also coming to the end of the apple season… however, I still have a bushel of apples sitting on my counter! I’ve already made some apple butter (I’ll post about that soon) and a little bit of applesauce and now I’m working on dried apples.
Unfortunately I had an entire ½ gallon of raw milk that went sour. I really didn’t want to dump it out, didn’t have the cultures to try making cheese and a few of my kids can’t have it at all, so I couldn’t try putting it in baked goods. So what to do with it?
Recently I’ve been itching to purchase some because of all the health benefits (post on this coming soon) it offers and for it’s many uses. I’ve especially been wanting to make some marshmallows for the kids to enjoy over a campfire and not worry about the high fructose corn syrup and food coloring in(…)
Thankfully it’s warming up here in the DC metro area! I LOVE summer and warm weather! I really enjoy all things summer, no school, pool time, bright sunshine, lots of outside activities, letting kids run and yell outside as much as they want, planting gardens, eating fresh produce and my list could go on(…)
Last week we were short on lunch ideas and I was hoping to find a can of tuna in the closet to make some tuna salad for the kids. It was a no go. We were overdue for a grocery trip, but so busy with fun things to do that we hadn’t made it(…)
For some reason I’ve been craving gingerbread even though it’s spring and no where near gingerbread season.. .if there is such a thing! I was on a hunt for a good recipe. I wanted something a little sweet and a little spicy!
This post is a little late coming out, but a week and a half ago we had our last day of school for this year! Since we are homeschooling, we weren’t going to have a graduation, but I still wanted to do something special.
Here is another non-paleo meal because of the diary. We do enjoy our fair share of raw dairy! All of us are lovers of all things made from milk! Cream cheese, any cheese, yogurt, milk kefir, cottage cheese, you name it we probably eat it!
Whoever came up with the title of gorp? And does anyone ever use it anymore besides hippies and my mother? It’s been a huge hit with hikers and surfers and some say it is an acronym for “good ol’ raisins n peanuts” others say it’s just a list of ingredients like granola, oats, raisins and(…)
I already knew I was attached to my , but I’m becoming more and more dependent on it. That could be a good thing or a bad thing! I’m glad it’s getting plenty of use! A week or two ago I posted on the almond coconut cookies we made in the . Those are long(…)
